Doctor Directed Massage

Each one of our doctors recognizes the benefits that massage brings to restoring your health and well-being. They will direct our massage therapists for therapy to treat conditions such as headaches, neck pain, back pain, increase circulation and flexibility, improve muscle tone and allow joints to move more freely.

Hot Stone Massage

Using heated Basalt stones applied to the body in various ways, this unique massage provides deep dimensions of relaxation and well being.

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth basalt stones that absorb and retain heat well. It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. The heat helps tight muscles relax.

What Happens During a Hot Stone Massage?

· Before you arrive, the massage therapist sanitizes the stones and heats them in 120 to 150 degree water.

· The therapist uses traditional strokes of Swedish massage while holding a heated stone. As the stone cools, the therapist replaces it with another.

· The therapist might also leave heated stones in specific points along your spine, or in the palms of your hand.

Pregnancy Massage

Why Massage During Pregnancy?

Massage during pregnancy not only makes a woman feel pampered, but offers undeniable physical benefits as well. Massage can relieve fatigue, enhance sleep, and calm an active baby.

How Will I Receive My Massage?

When receiving pregnancy massage, you are positioned on your side to give the therapist access to your back, or in a semi-reclining position for massage on the front of your body. You will be supported with pillows or special cushions. We have a pillow specifically designed for pregnant women, including a “breakaway tummy” to support the pelvic area if it is safe for you to lay on your stomach. (This is normally within the first trimester, depending on your level of comfort.)

You will be properly draped while the therapist is working.

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy

A barefoot massage technique using deep compression strokes that glide over the body. It is performed with the therapist standing over the client, holding on to parallel bars that are suspended from the ceiling. Bars are used to provide support and balance. This creates a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage, provides deep relaxation, and stimulates the lymphatic system of the body.

It was originally practiced by Buddhist monks in China, Thailand, and Japan. Ashiatsu therapists work with their body weight and foot pressure to perform smooth, glowing, gliding movements. It is performed with the client laying face down.
When this portion of the massage is complete, the client turns over and the therapist finishes the treatment with traditional massage and hot towels. Since first introduced it has proven to be the ideal service for male clients who want deep tissue work.

Upledger CranioSacral Therapy

Gentle pressure focused on balancing the rhythm of the cerebral spinal fluid releases restrictions from the sacrum to the cranial area. Some problems relieved by this procedure include headaches, ADD, dyslexia, small stroke syndrome, morning sickness, migraines, low back pain, joint pain, menstrual cramps, acute fever, acute pain, lazy eye, labor pain, autism, and numbness in hands or feet.

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate these negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. You also can benefit from better overall health and resistance to disease.

CranioSacral Therapy strengthens your body’s ability to take better care of you. It helps alleviate a range of illness, pain, and dysfunction.

How Is CranioSacral Therapy Performed?

CranioSacral Therapy is performed on a person fully clothed. Using a light touch - generally no more than the weight of a nickel - the practitioner monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. The therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.

A CranioSacral Therapy session can last from about 15 minutes to more than an hour, and it can be used alone or in conjunction with other therapeutic
procedures.

The result? A central nervous system free of restrictions. And a body that’s able to return to its greatest levels of performance.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage was developed 2500 years ago by Buddhist monks in Thailand. The use of stretching and gentle pressure along the body to increase flexibility, relieve muscle and joint tension and balance the body’s energy systems. The massage therapist uses gentle compression and stretching techniques and you will find that it is deeply relaxing and energizing.
